Complete description:

After about two years of development, we were able to make all of our ideas come true within a single delay pedal. The Lisa Tap Delay gives you a whole world of possibilities with absolute control over tone and repeats up to 1000ms. There are independent volume controls for the clean and delayed signal, besides Filter (Filtro), Saturation (Saturação), and Modulation Intensity and Frequency on the repeats. Two Feedback options (Retorno), with the second one being activated by a momentary footswitch. Two kinds of preamps - Clean Buffer or Echoplex EP-3 circuit. Tails mode and True-Bypass. Tap Tempo with four subdivisions. Tempo knob control via an expression pedal or CV.

When a signal comes into the Lisa, it is divided into two chains that may be affected by a transparent buffer or a pre-amplification stage with a JFET transistor and the same circuit from the classic Ecoplex EP-3. The first chain goes on without passing through the delay circuit. The second chain goes through the circuit and the repetitions are generated by two PT2399 digital delay CIs, with filters to get the right analog vibe. At the end of each chain there is an independent volume control: you can adjust the clean output and the effect signal output as well.

The Lisa Tap Delay has Saturation and Filter controls that affect only the repeats.

The saturation is the result of the compression and clipping that enriches the delayed signal harmonically. This effect happens naturally in magnetic tape-echo analog equipment. In the Lisa Tap Delay, the saturation generates harmonics in a dynamic way and goes from natural tape sounds to extremely dirty, printing unique characteristics on your tone.

The Lisa Tap Delay has a number of fixed Low-Pass filters that are part of the design and determine the effectʼs response curve. Aside from that, we have added a variable filter that has its cutoff frequency adjusted by the knob Filtro. All the way up, the repeats sound very similar to the clean signal, however, when Filtro is dialed back a bit, they will sound closer to BBD (Bucket Brigade) analog delays. Fully counterclockwise, Filtro cuts all high frequencies from the repeats creating a soundscape of low-frequency repeats. Between those extremes, there are plenty of tone possibilities that can be tailored to taste.

Besides saturation and filter controls, the Lisa Tap Delay also has modulation controls: Intensity (MOD INT) e Frequency (MOD FREQ). The modulation heard in the Lisa Tap Delay repeats is a true Vibrato. In other words, it affects the Pitch of the notes played through an LFO that periodically modulates the delay time. This is a very common feature in delay pedals in general, thatʼs also found in magnetic tape delay repeats.

The delay time can be controlled by the knob Tempo, by the TAP footswitch, and also via an Expression pedal or CV. The delay time set by the TEMPO knob is automatically replaced by the intervals with which the TAP footswitch is pressed. Our Tap Tempo function here is complemented by 4 subdivisions that also relate to the pace the footswitch is pressed. To get back to the delay time set by the TEMPO knob, all you have to do is hold the TAP footswitch down for 3 seconds. The repeats get to 1000ms. After 800ms there is a slight wear in the repeats and some noise may be experienced. Use the knob Filtro to cut high frequencies and thus, eliminate the noise, or use Filtro and Saturação to boost this effect even more and get closer to lo-fi worn-out tape sounds.

The Lisa Tap Delay can be operated on Cauda (Tails) or True-Bypass mode. When True-Bypass is selected, the repeats are cut as soon as the pedal is switched off.

Besides the on/off footswitches (Bypass) and TAP, there is a momentary footswitch that allows you to switch between the parameters RETORNO (feedback) and RETORNO B (feedback B). With this feature, you can assign a different quantity of repeats to each mode and use it creatively to get cool live effects. The Lisa Tap Delay offers the user complete control. It can be used as a high-fidelity delay machine or a highly saturated lo-fi delay. The modulation evokes the organic sounds of the classic magnetic tape delays and can be used on their own as a standalone effect. The feedback-switching feature gives you great power in a practical way. The four-subdivision Tap Tempo helps with versatility and synchronicity. We hope you willl spend hours finding countless new soundscapes with the Lisa Tap Delay.
